Explosive demolition of Post Stressed Concrete structures precludes pre-weakening break out, and test blasting is inappropriate. Our knowledge of the explosive charge weight required to displace concrete provides confidence to tackle the biggest jobs where test blasting cannot be used to confirm the effectiveness of intentions. The 4 post stressed concrete silos each 50m high, 20m diameter of estimated weight 2000 tonne were felled by 25kg of explosives in sequence to minimise the effects of air over pressure and ground vibration.
